Ontario Entrepreneur Program (officially, The Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program’s (OINP) Entrepreneur Stream) is designed to support individuals from outside of Canada who are looking to implement a new business idea or buy an existing business in Ontario. The Entrepreneur Stream offers entrepreneurs the opportunity to be nominated for permanent residence once their business has been successfully established in Ontario.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

1) Demonstration of minimum 2 (two) years business management experience in the past 5 (five) years,

2) Legally obtained net worth of at least;

      a) CAN$ 800,000 for a business located within GTA,
      b) CAN$ 400,000 for a business located outside GTA,
      c) CAN$ 400,000 for a business in the IT sector regardless of the location,

3) Minimum personal investment in an eligible business in Ontario at least;

      a) CAN$ 600,000 for a business located within GTA,
      b) CAN$ 200,000 for a business located outside GTA,
      c) CAN$ 200,000 for a business in the IT sector regardless of the location,

4) Commitment of creation at least;

      a) 2 (two) permanent-full time jobs for a business located within GTA,
      b) 1 (one) permanent-full time jobs for a business located outside GTA,
      c) 1 (one) permanent-full time jobs for a business in the IT sector regardless of the location,

5) Active involvement in the business with a minimum 9 (nine) months a year residency in Ontario,

6) Have a beginner level of English or French.

Potential applicants will register an online Expression of Interest profile. Applicants will be ranked against others using a point-based system. Only the highest-ranking applicants in the candidate pool will be invited to apply for Entrepreneur Stream.

Applicants whose applications are submitted will be required to attend a mandatory interview. Upon the approval of the application after a successful interview, applicants will be issued a work permit and able to reside in Ontario along with their dependent family members.

Entrepreneurs who have have implemented their business plans in 20 (twenty) months after arrival in Ontario will be issued permanent resident visas of Canada.

CITIZENSHIP REQUIREMENTS

Entrepreneurs and their dependent family members who have lived in Canada for 3 (three) out of 5 (five) years (1,095 days) preceding the application are eligible to apply for Canadian citizenship.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Applicants are required to undergo a medical check and must have no criminal record.
